Usually referred to as Tana, the capital of Madagascar is not what most people envision when they think of the island nation. The metropolis that rises out of the surrounding grasslands and paddy fields is the center of everything in this otherwise wild place.
As the gateway to the rest of the country, it’s a great place to spend some urban time shopping at Galerie Arena, one of the city’s many shopping malls. When the sun starts to go down, the night markets open up. The night markets are a unique shopping experience where you might find some cool local mementos. Learn the local history at Ambohimanga, a royal fortress that’s been part of the island’s history for over 500 years.
Check out the city before you head out into other parts of the country, or after you return, so you can relax while you try some local cuisine. Either way, you’ll want to make sure you get some great pictures of everything.
While you can take some great pics on your own, why not have a pro get some for you? Bring in a local professional photographer in Antananarivo to get some high quality photos.
