Odense, Denmark’s third largest city, is located on the island of Funen. It’s the birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen and composer Carl Nielsen. Much of Odense revolves around its most famous citizens, turning the island into a cultural fairy tale.
Egeskov Castle, a magnificent building from the 16 th century, might be the setting for one of Andersen’s stories. Odense has a museum dedicated to Andersen, with original pages and drawings, along with his personal belongings. This is the house where Andersen was born and lived. The Carl Nielsen Museum is a memorial to the composer’s life and music. Visit the Galleri Galschiot, the studio of one of Denmark’s most revered artists and view his gallery and sculptures. The Funen Village consists of 30 original buildings, with the staff in traditional costumes engaging in traditional activities such as butter churning.
A visit to Odense is a visit back in time, when stories, music and art where a part of people’s daily lives. Only an Odense photographer can turn the magic of Odense into fairy tale pictures.
