Recommended places:

Catania is a city full of History with a delightful mesh of fashion districts, boisterous markets, wonderful seaside and culture. The people are fun and every neighbourhood has got his distinctive character and uniqueness. I love to shoot in Via Crociferi, one of the most famous streets in the city centre, full of incredible baroque churches and museums. Before the sunset, the historical buildings paints wonderful dramatic shadows on the church façade. Many people enjoy this moment with friends seating in the Chiesa di San Giuliano stairs. During the morning the fish market (A’ Piscaria) is a must-see place where spend time for the shooting. Every morning is lively and animated and here I love to interact with the passionate fishermens that with their voices and gesticulations try to attract buyers and tourists. Catania offers also a beautiful waterfront that will bring you to the Aci Castello and Aci Trezza fishing villages. Here you can’t miss the opportunity to taste the famous “granita” and take a photo shoot with the Faraglioni, the “rocks” thrown by Polyphemus against Ulysses, while the latter escaped by sea from the anger of the Cyclops. If you love the mountain you can have a wonderful experience (and pictures) in one of my favourites places in the Etna volcano! The Silvestri Craters and Sartorius Mts offer a very easy experience even if you are not confortable with trekking. Few kilometers south from Catania there is one of my favorite open-air shooting set: Ortigia, the oldest part of Syracuse. The Ortigia island will take your breath with their narrow streets full of barouque architecture, the hospitality of the people and the breeze of the sea!
