This park was once the home to the rococo Monbijou Palace. Monbijou park neighbors Museum Island, Hackeschen Market, and the Berlin Cathedral. The nine-meter wide promenade and lush green grass are open for families, couples, and individuals to enjoy their time on low set beach chairs while watching the boats pass by along the Spree.
There is also a large swimming pool that was built in the 1960s where the entire family can enjoy a pleasant day in the sun. On the weekends there are fantastic dance parties in the park’s beach bar. Behind the bar is a handmade theater from wood, which makes for a great background in the daylight or evening hours. The ambiance there is extremely laid back making it an enjoyable atmosphere for both locals and tourists.
Many locals who live in Mitte frequent this area for the cool air that comes up from the Spree and the aesthetic view onto the fine edge of Museum Island. You can rest under the shade of the Summer or Autumn leaves and capture the Cathedral, or the Bode Museum set behind the Spree as your background.
