Engagement photos are fun, but with all of the planning and expenses prior to the wedding, they are not always possible. One option is to have an anniversary shoot instead, which is what Meg wanted to celebrate her first anniversary with her husband, which they spent in Provence.
La Vie est Belle en Provence
Located in the south of France, Aix-en-Provence is a university city and the birthplace of painter Paul Cezanne. Its yellow-colored limestone buildings, narrow streets and Provençal culture make it a must-see destination for visitors to southern France. The area is known for its wine and lavender not to mention fantastic weather.
But it Aix’s quintessential style that Meg wanted to capture as part of her anniversary images, which she did with the help of a professional couple photographer named Pascal.
One Year Later!
Meg was not able to take engagement photographs, and wanted to have some professional images done for her wedding anniversary instead. The idea is a great one – the stress and craziness of the wedding has long since passed, and by the end of the first year couples are often hitting their marriage groove. They’ve settled in to their (possibly new) home, they’ve grown together over the year, but they are still in that new bloom of married life.
Pascal captured all of this, including Meg and her husband’s happy, playful sides, with these professional photographs in Aix. The couple is seen walking hand-in-hand through the streets, enjoying a coffee at a typical French café, and even browsing for some of the region’s wine. The streets of Aix – lined with gorgeous plane trees and cobblestones – set the perfect scene for an evening stroll.
Pascal captured the happily married couple at their best. They are obviously glad to have the first year behind them and to enjoy this holiday together in Provence. Pascal chose the perfect time to take the images with fantastic evening lighting, and the photos, combined with the natural colour of the Provençal limestone, are soft and warm.
You can almost feel the breeze and hear the cicadas! The couple is seen enjoying their time along the cobbled streets, as well as sitting by one of Aix’s many fountains. The play of light and shadow make for some truly lovely images.
Pascal took photographs in different areas of the city, and from different angles, ensuring that Meg and her husband will have the very best pictures to remind them of their special time together. The images are not overly posed, however. Instead, Meg and her husband were free to just be themselves, and be natural. It is as if the photographer was not there at all. They are simply allowed to be together, sharing their affection for one another, and enjoying their time as they wander around Aix.
