Traveling to Kenya - Tips and Ideas

What documents do you need to enter Kenya in 2022

The ongoing pandemic has definitely changed the way we travel, especially internationally. Travellers have to meet more specific requirements to enter the country they want to visit and gather more documents than previously.

Foreign governments have imposed additional safety layers to ensure the visits of travellers will not pose any threat to the general public.

Tests and Vaccination

All travellers aged 5 and older must take a PCR test and register the received results on  https://globalhaven.org/ within 72 hours of visiting Kenya.

Make sure to also prepare your vaccination certificate if you’re 18 or older.

Health Surveillance Form

All travellers must also complete the online health declaration called the Kenya Health Surveillance Form providing some basic personal, contact, travel, and health-related information.

The online declarations have been implemented by numerous countries to help the foreign governments in keeping track of the Covid-19 situation and monitoring any possible cases.

Completing the Kenya Health Surveillance Form is followed by a PDF confirmation issued and delivered to travellers via email along with their unique QR code.

Kenya eVisa

Travellers from dozens of countries planning to visit Kenya should have a valid visa to enter. The easiest way to get one is by applying online using the Kenya eVisa system.

All you have to do is submit your online application within 72 hours from the planned departure and wait for your eVisa to get processed, approved, and delivered to you via email.

The approved document will be delivered in PDF form and should be then downloaded and printed before departure.

Issued Kenya eVisa serves as a single-entry permit allowing its holder to visit Kenya for up to 90 days for all leisure, business, and transit reasons.

You can read more about the Kenya eVisa and submit your application on https://www.evisa-kenya.com.

Passport

A valid passport is another document that you will need to prepare for your trip to Kenya in 2022.

Check the validity of your passport and make sure its expiry date extends beyond the length of your stay in Kenya.

Additional Safety Measures Upon Arrival in Kenya

The borders officials and health authorities perform random antigen tests on incoming travellers at the cost of the Kenyan Government.

Should your test taken upon arrival came back positive, you will need to undergo a 10-day quarantine at a special designated facility, take another PCR test, and if this one comes back positive as well, you’re going to have to take a PCR test on the seventh day of the quarantine period.
