Romantic Proposal in Houston, Texas
Houston, Texas, is full of museums, restaurants, shopping, and, of course, NASA’s Space Centre. Whether you’re wearing cowboy boots or Armani shoes, there’s something for everyone in Houston. It is here that you can find the 160-acre Buffalo Bayou Park, where Ben wanted to propose to his girlfriend.
Situated west of downtown Houston, the views from the park back towards the iconic skyscrapers are amazing. In the park, you can take in art exhibits, rent a kayak, or a bike. The area also houses a dog park, and nature play area, as well as picnic sites and spaces, to just relax and enjoy the surroundings.
The Big Question
It was this natural green space that provided the backdrop for this surprise proposal shoot. Ben wanted to propose in the late afternoon, just before sunset, to maximize the ambiance. With the help of professional proposal photographer Jab, he was able to surprise his girlfriend.
JAB managed to photograph every moment as it happened. Ben’s girlfriend was facing Ben at the top of a set of stairs, the Houston skyline behind her. Ben went on one knee, and she covered her eyes, her surprise, and elation obvious. Jab, camera at the ready, caught the exact moment when Ben asked that all-important question.
And, naturally, he also caught the precise moment that she said “yes!” Her happiness is so clear in the photos – you can almost hear her laughing out loud. By the time a couple arranges to take part in a traditional engagement photoshoot, the actual moment of the proposal has long since passed. After the initial proposal was over, Jab took several other photos of the couple as they reveled in their new relationship status. The location was perfect for a romantic evening as the sun started to set just behind them after the proposal was done. Jab captured some truly special moments between the lovely couple as they were still beaming with happiness. She was able to take images from several vantage points – both close up and at a distance, as well as with Ben’s fiancé showing off her new ring – ensuring that Ben and his new fiancé will have the very best pictures to remind them the day he popped the question.
And because Jab is so professional, Ben and his fiancé were comfortable sharing their affection in front of him. None of the couple’s poses feel forced or unnatural, and all of these images were captured without being intrusive. It was easy to forget that the photographer was even there, as they were living in the moment.
