Travel Resolutions 2026: How to Travel More, Stress Less & Experience the World Differently

A new year brings new goals for the 12 months ahead. That’s why we have asked our favorite travel bloggers what are their travel resolutions for the upcoming year 2026. It’s not surprising that you’ll read about various countries and cities that you might never even heard of. So sit back, relax and read through this dose of travel inspiration for 2026.

While destinations and bucket lists may change, travel resolutions often reveal something deeper than a simple desire to go somewhere new. They reflect how we want to feel when we travel — freer, more present, more balanced, or more connected to the world around us. In recent years, travelers have increasingly focused on intention over intensity, choosing meaningful experiences over rushed itineraries and personal growth over perfection.

Best Travel Resolutions About Mindset, Presence & Letting Go

Many of the most meaningful travel resolutions have little to do with destinations and everything to do with mindset. These intentions focus on how we experience travel — embracing uncertainty, staying present, and learning to see unexpected moments as part of the journey rather than interruptions. They remind us that travel isn’t just movement through space, but a way of approaching life with curiosity and openness.

Santorini Plus

I have two travel resolutions for 2026: To be more spontaneous and even more optimistic. There is this thing I ‘ve always wanted to do. Show up at the airport, choose a flight and go. Even just for a day trip. This year I am making that happen.

I once missed a flight and I remember being so frustrated. I see now that even if I stayed a bit longer.. well, what would be so wrong with that? From now on, if I miss a flight or encounter any other problem when traveling I will see it as a great opportunity and not a great problem. And I shall make the most of it. You should do the same. Not only when traveling, but every day in your life. You know what they say. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

Happy New Year and Happy Travels everyone!

Travel in the Raw

For 2026, my travel resolution is to stay deeply present — not just in beautiful moments, but in the uncomfortable and unexpected ones too. Travel has taught me that growth often comes from uncertainty, and I want to continue leaning into experiences that challenge me rather than avoiding them.

This year, I’m focusing on practices that help me stay grounded on the road, from daily meditation and movement to spending more time offline. Slowing down mentally allows me to notice small details — conversations, emotions, and environments — that often get lost when traveling on autopilot.

Instead of chasing destinations, my goal is to let each journey shape me in its own way. By traveling with awareness and intention, I hope every experience — wherever it takes place — becomes an opportunity for learning, reflection, and personal growth.

Anna Everywhere

This year, my travel resolution is to continue discovering the world through the lens of traveling with a child — embracing a slower pace, more flexibility, and a deeper appreciation for everyday moments on the road. Traveling as a parent has completely reshaped how I experience destinations, shifting the focus from checking sights off a list to creating meaningful, shared memories.

I want our travels to feel balanced and joyful, with space for curiosity, rest, and spontaneity. That means choosing destinations that are welcoming for families, allowing extra time for simple pleasures, and accepting that not every day needs to be packed with activities to be memorable.

Above all, my goal is to show that travel doesn’t end when you become a parent — it simply evolves. With the right mindset, patience, and sense of adventure, exploring the world together can be just as enriching, if not more so, than before.

Together, these travel resolutions highlight the beauty of slowing down mentally, even when the journey itself is full of motion. By letting go of rigid expectations and embracing each moment as it comes, travel becomes more intuitive, more personal, and often far more rewarding than any perfectly planned itinerary.

As these travel resolutions show, mindset often sets the tone for every journey that follows. When we travel with openness and presence, new destinations feel richer and more rewarding. From here, curiosity naturally takes over — inspiring travelers to look outward, seek new landscapes, and embrace the excitement that comes with discovering unfamiliar places.

Travel Resolutions Driven by Adventure & New Destinations

For many travelers, travel resolutions are sparked by curiosity — the desire to explore new landscapes, experience different cultures, and finally say yes to places that have lived on the wish list for years. These resolutions are about discovery and momentum, balancing excitement with intention and reminding us that adventure comes in many forms.

Aside from the usual “try and floss more,” I have some exciting travel resolutions for 2026! First up is to have a jam-packed active vacation: I’d love to swim with sharks, go caving, and fly through the jungle on a zip line when I head to Belize.

In Cuba, I want to roam the streets of Old Havana, completely disconnect with the world, and soak in a culture totally different than my own.

Last but not least, I plan to take more weekend trips. The USA has so many awesome cities that deserve some exploration. A few on my list of possibilities for this year are Nashville, Tennessee, Savannah, Georgia, and Austin, Texas. Stay tuned for what 2026 has to offer!

This Battered Suitcase

I feel like I’m always making goals and resolutions for myself, whether it’s the new year or not, but in 2026 I really want to write a lot more. It’s so easy to make excuses why I don’t have time to write and blog, but once I get started, I remember how much I really love it.

Besides that, I do have a lot of travel goals, including seeing Georgia, Jordan, and another country in the Balkans. I would also love to visit East Africa. I’ve just booked my first international trip of the year – to Northern Italy – and I can’t wait to see where 2026 takes me!

Salt in Our Hair

Our travel resolution for this year is simple but intentional: to travel slower and more consciously. Instead of hopping quickly between destinations, we want to spend more time in fewer places — getting to know local rhythms, food, nature, and everyday life beyond the highlights.

We’re focusing on destinations where nature plays a central role, from coastal landscapes and national parks to lesser-known islands and rural regions. Traveling more sustainably is also high on our list, whether that means choosing slower transport when possible, supporting local businesses, or being more mindful of our footprint while exploring.

These travel resolutions show that adventure doesn’t always mean going faster or farther. Sometimes, it’s about choosing depth over distance, staying curious, and allowing each journey to unfold naturally. Whether near or far, new destinations have a way of reshaping how we see the world — and ourselves.

Adventure fuels movement, but it also raises important questions about sustainability, energy, and balance. After the thrill of new destinations, many travelers begin to reflect on how travel fits into their wider lives — alongside careers, relationships, health, and everyday responsibilities. The next travel resolutions explore exactly that intersection.

Travel doesn’t exist in a vacuum — it weaves into careers, family life, wellness goals, and everyday routines. In 2026, my focus is on balance: balancing those small moments with my preschooler and newborn baby with those life-defining moments on our travels. I often get caught up in the big picture stuff so much that I forget to appreciate the little things that are happening on the day-to-day!

At home, I’m looking forward to watching my child grow and helping her learn more about the world around her. In my traveling, I’m hoping to check off a few major bucket list items including a trip to Spain and seeing the Northern Lights in Iceland.

Here’s to a wonderful, fulfilling 2026!

Suitcase and Heels

This year, my travel resolution is to strike a better balance between returning to places I love and finally saying yes to destinations that are completely new to me. There’s comfort in revisiting familiar favorites, but some of the most memorable experiences happen when you step outside that comfort zone and explore somewhere unexpected. I want my travels to feel energetic and varied — mixing city breaks with nature escapes, active days with slower moments, and stylish stays with down-to-earth local experiences.

Rather than planning every detail, I’m aiming to leave room for spontaneity while still traveling with intention. Most importantly, I want travel to continue feeling fun and inspiring, not rushed or overwhelming. Whether it’s a short getaway or a longer adventure, my goal is to return home feeling recharged, inspired, and ready for whatever comes next.

The Wandering Wanderluster

Being a travel blogger doesn’t always mean I’m off out exploring cool and exciting destinations. It also requires hours and hours of work and sitting behind a laptop. Editing photos, writing blog posts, social media, email newsletters, etc.. This means there can be days where I don’t leave the house or move from my desk. So for 2026, my new year’s resolution is to go for a walk every day for a minimum of 1 hour. So far I’ve discovered new areas of the city (Prague) and re-discovered corners of my neighborhood that I haven’t been to in a while.

Trying to find time to get fitter and step away from your work can be hard. But even if you don’t have much time, slight adjustments to your daily routine can allow for some time to head out for a walk. I’m already feeling more energetic and awake, which means I am more efficient when I work and I have some spare time to plan my future adventures! Canada & Norway here we come!

These travel resolutions remind us that meaningful travel isn’t defined by frequency or distance, but by alignment. When journeys reflect our current priorities and rhythms, travel becomes a source of renewal rather than pressure — supporting both personal growth and everyday life.

Once balance becomes part of the equation, travel resolutions often shift again — toward intention. Instead of asking where to go next, travelers begin asking how and why. Slower travel, deeper connections, and more mindful choices naturally follow, shaping journeys that feel more aligned, thoughtful, and fulfilling.

She’s on the Loose

This year I am so excited to join a major airline as a flight attendant and continue my travels all around the world. My New Year’s travel resolution is to travel with less planning. I want to go with the flow and see where my travels take me. Instead of meticulously scheduling my days, I want to take a breath and enjoy spontaneous adventures while traveling. This year I am focused on soaking it all in! I will also continue to grow my new travel podcast where I talk about being a flight attendant, share my travel stories & connect with all of my readers on a more personal level.

Cheers to 2026! It’s going to be a great one!

Notes of Jo

In 2026, my (not only) travel resolution is to travel deeper, slower, and more responsible while reinventing a healthy lifestyle. 2026 is a brand new start. Letting go the old and welcoming the new.

I am going to stay longer in each city/village/town I visit if time allows. (I am not a full-time traveler!) Spending at least a week or more. I recently moved to Shanghai, so I want to see China and other Asian countries more in-depth, explore and discover sceneries and experiences that are unique to me.

Also, I am making healthy and eco-friendly choices whether I am traveling or not. I want to be more active and spend more time in nature: More hiking and learning how to ski are in my plan! I just started fitness training to get in shape, so I don’t die when I hike with my backpack!

Chelsea Dickenson

This year, my travel resolution is to travel smarter — not necessarily farther or more often, but more intentionally. That means being flexible with dates, keeping an open mind about destinations, and making the most of opportunities when great value appears. Some of the best trips happen when you’re willing to say yes at the right moment.

I want to focus on experiences that feel rewarding rather than rushed, balancing spontaneous getaways with a bit of forward planning that actually makes travel less stressful. Finding value isn’t about cutting corners — it’s about being informed, adaptable, and confident in your choices.

Ultimately, my goal is to show that meaningful travel doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated. With the right mindset and a little flexibility, amazing journeys are far more accessible than people often think.
