Hugo, local photographer in The Azores

My photoshoot style is natural, relaxed, and storytelling-focused. I aim to capture genuine emotions while integrating the stunning landscapes of São Miguel Island, creating bright, authentic, and timeless travel memories rather than overly posed images.

Since I am also a local Tour Guide and a Marine Biologist, I love to share stories about the culture, wildlife, and history of the Azores during the session. This not only enriches the overall experience but also helps clients feel more comfortable in front of the camera in a very natural and spontaneous way.

Meeting new people is one of the things that truly drives me as a photographer. I love capturing real emotions — natural smiles, laughter, genuine interactions, and the unique connection between people and the surrounding landscape.

I especially enjoy photographing couples, solo travelers, and families while they are experiencing the beauty of the Azorean nature. The expressions, the way a couple interacts, or the joy of a family on vacation together are priceless moments.

I feel truly honored every time a person, couple, or family trusts me to capture memories that will last forever. Some say diamonds are forever — I believe photographs are forever.

Some of my favorite photo locations include Sete Cidades, Lagoa do Fogo, Furnas, different Waterfalls and several coastal viewpoints around the island.

I carefully choose locations based on light, weather conditions, and the client’s preferences, ensuring each session feels unique while showcasing the natural beauty and volcanic landscapes that make the Azores so special.

I also like to create a diverse experience by combining different environments in the same tour — for example, volcanic lakes and forests in Sete Cidades with the dramatic beaches of the west coast. This allows my clients to enjoy varied scenery while having a richer and more memorable photo experience while combining different backgrounds.

I speak Portuguese and English fluently and I am very comfortable working with international clients from different cultural backgrounds.

I am also fluent in Spanish (Castellano), as I lived in Barcelona for three and a half years.
